Week 205: Dixie Inn, LA

Jan. 01 - 07, 2023

Sunday, Happy New Year! We toasted the morning with some mimosas and bacon and eggs. I got busy making the black-eyed peas, turnip greens, and cornbread. I love black-eyed peas. My sister invited all the family over to enjoy dinner at their house. I look forward to being able to host everyone at our new house. Maybe a spring crawfish boil?

Monday, I do not recommend buying a house during the Christmas/New Year holidays! Can you believe that people want to take time off!

Tuesday, someone is living right! We managed to get an RV storage unit only 2 miles from the new house. The new house doesn't have enough room to build an RV garage and the HOA rules don't allow for parking in the driveway. I was a little worried what we would do with it once we get moved into the new house. After we get moved in, in a couple of months, we will be done with the full time RV life but we aren't quite ready to stop RVing all together. There were some severe storms that came thru so we went to my sister's house to ride them out. It's nice to have a secure place to go. That is one thing that we will be adding to the new house, a tornado shelter.

Wednesday, we enjoyed lunch at Dorcheat's Seafood & Grill with Willie and David. It is a nice place and the food was good. There is a boat ramp and park across the parking lot, might be a good place to go fishing. We enjoyed a few more furniture stores and an antique shop.

Thursday, we both had our annual eye exams. Lilah's Bakery has King Cakes so I had to stop and pickup one. Not exactly keto friendly but hey, its carnival season! I got Bavarian cream and it is delicious! Week after next they are making a Nutella and Bavarian cream, of course I ordered one.

Friday, I got my windshield replaced and my tires rotated today. I am not real happy with Safelite. The headliner now has a gap at the top and looks awful. I didn't notice it until after I left to get the tires rotated. I went back to ask if there was a trim piece missing and they tried to tell me that it was like that when they started. I can't prove it but I don't think so.  It is always something right? On the way home I passed by Dorcheat's restaurant...it has burned to the ground! So sad.  Elard read that it has burned down 3 times!

Saturday, time is just dragging by. I can't wait to get closed on the house. I managed to get the laundry done and watch all the Underworld movies...productive right?  Elard also found some reports online that the headliner issue on the Edge is common so maybe the folks at Safelite didn't do it.  Maybe it is just a poor design.  I still think that I will get an professional auto interior person to look at it.  The South Pittsburgh TN Cornbread Festival tickets went on sale today and of course I got ours.  Its the last weekend in April and did I mention they will be giving tours of the factory?  I can't wait to see that.
