Week 147: Langston,AL and Ashdown, AR

Nov. 21 - Nov. 27, 2021

Sunday and Monday we didn't do much of anything.  Just enjoyed a couple of lazy days at the lake.  We got in walks, watched all our TV series, and made plans for the next few days.

Tuesday, we left Mountain Lakes.  Our neighbors had put up a tent nearly directly in front of the motorhome.  We had to back out of our spot rather than being able to pull forward.  I directed Elard to make sure we didn't hit the fifth wheel behind us.  All the neighbors craned their heads out of the tent.  I'm not sure if they were worried we would hit them or just curious to see how we handled it.  It was tight but we managed everything.  We traveled to Meridian, MS to the Toomsuba KOA.  The road into the KOA was No Bueno.... there was a bridge labeled 3 Ton max... yikes! We could tell from the traffic and 18 wheelers behind us that the bridge would be fine but I've never seen a limit sign that small before, maybe it was 23 and the 2 just fell off.  We were fine, but we also had to pass a metal scrap yard to get to the campground. I don't think we will stay at this park again but it would be fine for a smaller RV.

Wednesday, today we traveled on to Millwood Landing in Ashdown, AR. We will be here thru the end of the year. Millwood Landing is just under 2 hours from Haughton so we hope to get several visits with the family in before we head west.  The only down side is that cell reception is horrible. We are dropping calls like crazy and web-surfing is spotty.

Thursday, we left pretty early to drive down to our niece's house for Thanksgiving.  They have a beautiful home.  Everyone came to their house and brought a side.  We even had my brother Mitchell, who lives in Mississippi in assisted living, here for the holiday.  We had a wonderful time. We even managed to get a family photo with everyone. After dinner we went to Willie and David's house for the evening.

Friday, we enjoyed the day with Willie and David.  We went over to Melvin and Terrie's for a short visit and to pickup my car. We also explored a few RV parks that are closer to Haughton. We found a pretty good option in Dixie Inn that would be much better for when we get ready to build a house.  It would only be 20 minutes from our lot rather than 2 hours.

Saturday, this morning I picked up Mitchell and drove him home to Mississippi. It is quite a drive.  I got him back home and then returned to Hattiesburg for the evening.  It was a bit too far to make the trip all in one day.  It has been a great week.  I am so happy to have gotten to see my whole family for Thanksgiving.  We hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving too!
